Tom Tonkin met with Animators and writers at San Francisco’s New Pencil Studios where he helped brainstorm and take visual notes to create storyboards/ animatics used for the production. The project included a few field trips to the San-Francisco Zoo by Tom and the animation team for reference and inspiration.
The fly through schematic was a diagram for animators to follow as they created everything with CGI animation. The storyboards were used for concept presentation to Microsoft as well as an initial guide for animators.

These parody spots for SNL are shot using storyboards to coordinate graphics, animations etc. with script and actors dialogue. The storyboards become very helpful in shooting these shorts on a very tight production schedule. Often the spots are shot the morning before aired on SNL.
